Hi all. I decided to try making a podcast. If this is well-received I might make this into a regular feature. I did all the recording and editing using Audacity and spliced in a GFDL’d intro chiptune by Mysid I picked up on Wikimedia Commons. Thanks Mysid! I had a lot of fun playing with the audio editing but I tried not to try anything fancy. Plain is good.
Download here in Ogg Vorbis format.
(I should probably supply MP3’s for those who put podcasts on their iPods or what not… but then again, iPods should support Ogg Vorbis out of the box, shouldn’t they? If enough people complain (count so far: 1) I’ll install an MP3 encoder and … yeah.)
Update: I’ve added a podcasting plugin to wordpress, which should provide a iTunes link. The downside of this is that I was forced to get lameenc and encode the audio as MP3 - while I do use MP3 for listening, it’s mostly due to the lack of availability of Ogg Vorbis. But c’est la vie. The podcasting plugin is good though, it takes care of all the feeds and everything for me and I just have to upload and point at the correct file(s). Yay.

Any chance of offering an iTunes-compatible feed to subscribe to?

the chiptune is a bit loud, especially when you’re halfway asleep at the end and it loops over.
how should one go about building a post-scarcity society in a patent-and-copyright-encumbered intellectual climate?
